Our Room: Chalet Room with Alpine View
Our stay at the Hotel Schweizerhof began with a warm welcome and seamless check-in experience. Our chalet room was spacious, comfortable, and stylishly furnished. The modern atmosphere and picturesque views of the surrounding mountains created a welcoming and relaxed environment.
Culinary Delights & Restaurants
A highlight of our stay was dinner at the gourmet restaurant Schmitte. Here, we indulged in the tasting menu, with a choice between Flora and Fauna. We opted for the Fauna menu, which featured a variety of delights from scallops to monkfish to delicate duck. The cuisine is characterized by fresh, seasonal ingredients and creative preparation. The Schmitte restaurant has been awarded 14 Gault&Millau points.
On the second evening, we enjoyed a traditional fondue dinner at the cozy Fondue Stübli restaurant of the hotel. The rustic ambiance and the delicious taste of the truffle fondue created a cozy and convivial atmosphere.
Relaxation at the Spa: An Oasis of Tranquility
After a day of adventure in the mountains, we relaxed in the hotel’s luxurious spa. Here, we pampered body and mind, enjoying the saunas, steam baths, and pool, as well as taking a swim.

In Grindelwald in winter, you can expect perfect skiing opportunities at Grindelwald First, picturesque winter hikes through snow-covered landscapes, and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain peaks. Additionally, you can experience sledding on spectacular toboggan runs, snowshoeing, and even paragliding over the snow-covered landscape.
In the surroundings of Grindelwald in winter, you can explore other idyllic villages such as Wengen and Mürren, which offer their alpine charm and spectacular views. Additionally, excursions to the world-famous Jungfraujoch, the impressive Trümmelbach Falls, and the idyllic Lake Brienz are perfect complements to the winter experience in the region.
Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe
Our stay at the Hotel Schweizerhof also provided the perfect opportunity to explore the surrounding mountain world. A highlight was the excursion to the Jungfraujoch, the highest railway station in Europe. With the VIP gondola and train, we traveled to the glacier and enjoyed the breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks. On the way back, we took the train via Kleine Scheidegg and returned to Grindelwald station. The hotel is only 5 minutes away from there.
The Jungfraujoch, often referred to as the “Top of Europe,” is located at an altitude of 3,466 meters and offers a spectacular view of the surrounding snow-capped peaks, including the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau.
Grindelwald First and Cliff Walk by Tissot
An absolute highlight of our stay was the excursion to Grindelwald First. With the cable car, we reached the summit, where we experienced the breathtaking First Cliff Walk and enjoyed the spectacular views of the Bernese Alps.
After another relaxing visit to the spa at the Hotel Schweizerhof, it was unfortunately time to say goodbye. Our stay was characterized by unforgettable experiences, warm hospitality, and the breathtaking beauty of the Swiss Alps. We look forward to our next visit!
