press trip

The final weeks of pregnancy are something very special. The anticipation of the baby’s arrival grows with every passing day, whilst at the same time your body is changing more and more and the to-do list suddenly seems never-ending. The nursery is being set up, hospital bags are being packed, and a thousand thoughts about the impending birth are swirling round in your head.
That’s precisely why more and more expectant parents are opting for a babymoon – a deliberate break before the birth. It’s a chance to take a deep breath one last time, spend time together, recharge your batteries and enjoy the peace and quiet before family life is enriched by yet another little miracle.
We quickly decided that we wanted to spend this special time in the mountains. We chose the Schweizerhof Flims for our Babymoon, a beautiful romantic spa hotel in Graubünden that we already knew from a previous stay. This time, however, we were there for a very special occasion: our babymoon.
Why Flims is the perfect destination for a babymoon
Anyone planning a babymoon is usually looking for one thing above all else: peace and quiet. For us, Flims is one of the most beautiful regions in Switzerland when it comes to switching off completely. The stunning mountain scenery, the fresh Alpine air and the numerous walking trails – for example, around Lake Cauma – create an atmosphere that naturally makes you slow down.
This is incredibly beneficial, especially during pregnancy. Instead of rushing from one appointment to the next, you savour every moment more fully. A short walk through the woods suddenly feels like a little adventure, a cup of tea on the terrace becomes the highlight of the day, and you take the time for conversations that often get neglected in everyday life. It’s this chance to slow down that makes a babymoon so special.
The family-run Hotel Schweizerhof Flims

As soon as you step into the Schweizerhof Flims, it quickly becomes clear why the hotel has been one of the most popular in the region for years. The blend of traditional charm, modern design and a very warm atmosphere instantly creates a sense of belonging and comfort. This was already my lasting impression from our first visit last November, so I was all the more delighted to be able to return for our babymoon.
We were given an extremely warm welcome and felt well looked after from the very first moment. It was lovely, especially during my pregnancy, to feel how attentively and effortlessly our needs were catered for.
Our family room was spacious, stylishly furnished and offered plenty of room for us as a small family. The direct connection to nature was particularly lovely: the view of the surrounding mountains immediately brought a sense of calm and helped us slow down. A babymoon can be wonderful as a couple, but also when travelling with older children, as it gives you the chance to consciously focus your attention on them once again.

The balcony was also a real highlight. The fresh mountain air in the morning, the sweeping views of the countryside and the quiet moments in between made it a little haven during our stay. It was precisely these quiet moments that made our babymoon even more special.
All in all, the room was the perfect base for our relaxing break in Flims – cosy, well thought-out and ideal for a mindful break before the birth.
Culinary delights – even during pregnancy
For us, good food is a key part of a successful babymoon. At the Schweizerhof Flims, great importance is placed on regional produce, seasonal ingredients and creative dishes. On our very first evening, we were treated to a multi-course gourmet meal as part of our half-board package.
During pregnancy in particular, people often wonder whether there is enough choice or whether many dishes will need to be adapted. At the Schweizerhof, this wasn’t a problem at all. The kitchen naturally catered to my pregnancy and served delicious alternatives without me ever feeling as though I was missing out on anything. The non-alcoholic drinks served with the meal also made dinner a special experience.
We were just as impressed by the breakfast buffet. Fresh pastries, regional cheeses, homemade specialities, fresh fruit, Bircher muesli and many other delicacies ensured a perfect start to the day every morning.
Pregnancy Yoga – Time just for me and my baby

One of the absolute highlights of our stay was the private pregnancy yoga session. Especially in the third trimester, the body changes almost daily. Back pain, tense shoulders or heavy legs are part of everyday life for many pregnant women – and I, too, am not spared such discomforts. The yoga session was tailored precisely to these needs.
Through gentle movements, targeted stretches and mindful breathing, I was able to relax my body whilst feeling an even deeper connection to my baby. It wasn’t about physical performance, but about mindfulness. An hour in which you simply live in the moment.
Pregnancy massage – pure relaxation
The pregnancy massage was just as soothing. Anyone who has been pregnant knows how taxing the final weeks can be on your back, hips and legs. The treatment was specially tailored to the needs of expectant mums, including a special massage table and a relaxing foot bath before the massage.
With a wealth of experience, calmness and sensitivity, the therapist focused precisely on the areas that come under particular strain during pregnancy. After the massage, I felt incredibly light, relaxed and full of new energy. For me, a pregnancy massage is definitely one of the most wonderful experiences of a babymoon. A pregnancy massage is recommended up to the 35th week of pregnancy.
Wellness with views of the Grisons mountains
Of course, a leisurely visit to the mountain and forest spa was a must. Spanning around 750 square metres, the Schweizerhof Flims offers everything you need for a short break. The garden is particularly lovely in summer, where you can sunbathe or simply unwind, perhaps with a good book.
The natural stone pool is perfect for relaxing, various saunas and steam rooms ensure you unwind, and the stylishly furnished relaxation rooms create an atmosphere where you can completely forget about everyday life.
Our babymoon wasn’t just a break for the two of us. As my daughter was with us, we were also able to consciously create shared memories once again as a little family. Breakfasts together, walks through Flims, relaxing hours at the hotel and lots of little moments made this weekend particularly special for us.
Especially when you already have one child, the dynamics change again with a second baby. That’s why it was wonderful to consciously enjoy this time together once more.
My verdict: Is the Schweizerhof Flims the perfect babymoon hotel?

The Schweizerhof Flims has everything we could have wished for on a babymoon – a peaceful setting amidst the stunning Grisons mountains, spacious and lovingly designed family rooms, and excellent cuisine featuring regional specialities that add the perfect culinary touch to any stay. We were particularly impressed by the beautiful mountain and forest spa, which immediately promotes relaxation with its soothing atmosphere, as well as the treatments specially tailored for expectant mothers, such as pregnancy yoga and pregnancy massage. The whole experience is rounded off by an incredibly warm and welcoming team who, with great care and attention to detail, ensure that you feel completely at ease.
Anyone looking for a babymoon in Switzerland and wanting to consciously set aside some time to relax before the birth will find a place here that makes exactly that possible. We returned home with lots of lovely memories, renewed energy and even greater anticipation for our baby – and that’s exactly how a babymoon should feel.
