An unforgettable weekend in Saas-Fee

press trip

The car-free Saas-Fee in the beautiful canton of Valais, often referred to as “the pearl of the Alps”, fascinates visitors from all over the world with its breathtaking beauty, rich history and endless range of leisure activities.

When I first arrived in Saas-Fee, I was immediately enchanted by its picturesque scenery. The snow-capped peaks of the surrounding mountains, the charming wooden houses and the clear mountain air always create an atmosphere of peace and serenity. But Saas-Fee is much more than just an idyllic backdrop – it’s a lively village full of energy and activities – perfect for an eventful weekend break.

Skiing adventures in the Saas Valley: a paradise for winter sports enthusiasts

The Saas Valley is a true Eldorado for skiers and snowboarders. With 150 kilometres of perfectly groomed pistes and modern lifts, it offers perfect conditions for all skill levels. From gentle slopes for beginners to steep runs for experts, there is something for everyone here. Personally, I was able to improve my skills on the slopes and enjoy the breathtaking scenery around me to the full.

The ski season in Saas-Fee usually runs from November to April. The best snow conditions are often found between December and March. But even in April it was still wonderful. By the way, the glacier descent from Mittelallalin at 3,500 metres is particularly spectacular and offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding peaks.

Fondue in the gondola: a culinary delight at lofty heights

The fondue in the Saas Valley cable car was an absolute highlight. While floating high above the peaks of Saas-Fee, you can enjoy the delicious Swiss speciality to the full and admire the impressive mountain landscape. I not only enjoyed the delicious food, but also the unique experience that I will remember for a long time to come.

Dinner experience in the “Zer Schlucht” restaurant

In the “Zer Schlucht” restaurant at Hotel La Gorge, guests are treated to a selection of regional specialities prepared with love and passion by head chef Christoph Held and his team. This is where traditional Swiss cuisine meets modern sophistication. I had the pleasure of sampling various local dishes, which impressed me with their freshness and quality.

Discovery tour through the snow-covered Saas Valley: winter hiking and nature experiences

Away from the pistes, the Saas Valley offers a multitude of opportunities to explore unspoilt nature. On a winter hike through the snow-covered landscape, I was able to enjoy the tranquillity of nature and experience the beauty of the surroundings to the full. It was a moment of peace and tranquillity that I really enjoyed.

Saas-Fee offers a variety of winter hiking trails suitable for all fitness levels. Choose a route that suits your ability and offers the sights you want to see. Favourite destinations include the Mattmark reservoir, the village of Saas-Almagell and the glacier world on the way to the Britannia hut.
