Are you about to hit the roof? How about a staycation in the diverse and beautiful city of Geneva? Last weekend, I was once again able to get to know Geneva in all its facets. Today I would like to tell you about my stay and give you some inspiration for your staycation.

At the moment, a visit to Geneva is particularly worthwhile, because for every 2 nights booked in one of the participating partner hotels, you will receive a Geneva Gift Card with a credit of CHF 100, which you can redeem for great activities or in excellent restaurants.

Check-in at Hotel President Wilson

My stay in Geneva started with check-in at the 5-star Hotel President Wilson. The hotel offers an incredibly beautiful view of Lake Geneva and is only a few minutes away from the most beautiful parks and boutiques of the famous Rue du Rhône. Not only is the President Wilson Hotel home to one of the largest and most luxurious suites in all of Europe, the 204 guest rooms and 22 suites are very elegantly decorated. I was allowed to check into a suite with a view over Lake Geneva.

The Hotel President Wilson also has a lot to offer in terms of culinary delights. The pool terrace, open in summer, offers the fusion restaurant Umami, which serves seasonal Japanese dishes in the atmosphere of the French Riviera. Michel Roth’s Michelin-starred Bayview restaurant treats the taste buds to gastronomic highlights. Also to be found in the hotel is the Lebanese restaurant “Arabesque”, which invites you on a culinary journey into the world of “One Thousand and One Nights”. We, on the other hand, enjoyed a casual dinner in the Glow Bar Lounge.

Captain’s Table gastronomical Cruise on the lake

How about a cruise on Lake Geneva? The Captain’s Table gastronomical cruise combines a three-hour round trip on the lake with a culinary experience. You can experience this culinary cruise every Sunday and on public holidays. Last Sunday, the weather was also more than perfect. You can also redeem your Geneva Giftcard here.

Chocolate Flavours Tour

Do you love chocolate as much as I do and like to explore the city? Then the Chocolate Flavours Tour is just the thing for you. We were able to explore Geneva at numerous stops throughout the city and in the old town, nibbling and tasting the best chocolate. Our guide took us to unknown places and told us exciting facts about the city of Geneva. We visited various chocolatiers and were allowed to taste the specialities.

I think this unique city tour combined with chocolate tasting and exciting stories about Geneva is an absolutely wonderful combination. On the way, we were not only allowed to taste all kinds of chocolate delicacies, we also learned something about Geneva traditions. Therefore, a big recommendation to you.

Afternoon Tea at Hotel D’Angleterre

You can spend your afternoon in a very British way at the Hotel D’Angleterre, the Afternoon Tea is sure to put you in a good mood. In addition to delicious sandwiches and patisserie, a unique selection of teas and traditional English scones await you. A great option even on a rainy afternoon.

Ideas for a relaxing time in Geneva

Geneva is the second largest city in Switzerland and therefore offers a lot to discover. The city of Geneva is also home to most of the world’s international organisations besides New York City, including the UN, CERN, ICRC, WHO, ILO, IOM, ISO, IEC, ITU, WIPO, WMO, WOSM and WTO. It’s a city with an international spirit, which I like very much. So don’t miss out on a walk along Lake Geneva with the famous Jet d’eau, and don’t miss the famous Flower Clock. Geneva also offers everything your heart desires for shopping lovers. After a day of exploring, a private spa at the Hotel President Wilson is the perfect way to unwind.

Lunch at the Orient in the BALILA Restaurant

Looking for a lunch spot? Then I can recommend the Lebanese restaurant Balila. In a chic and relaxed atmosphere, Balila offers a unique journey of flavours from the Orient paired with Western accents. The beautiful dining room invites you to linger and enjoy. The dishes have been created by Lebanese chef Hussein Hadid, who is known for his association with Michelin-starred chefs around the world, as well as for his guest tables and exclusive receptions in Lebanon. Hot and cold mezze are the start of a culinary journey here.

Now I wish you a wonderful stay in unique Geneva and with your Geneva Gift Card (offer until 31.12.2020). You can find more information at Geneva Tourism.
