Tyrol: Discover the versatile PillerseeTal

Press trip

Do you already know the PillerseeTal in the Kitzbühel Alps? If not, you’re about to get to know it, because I was able to take a wonderful trip to this beautiful region and would like to tell you more about my stay today.

Skiing in the PillerseeTal

Skiing has been one of my winter highlights since I was a child. The PillerseeTal offers the perfect conditions for this. And not only on the slopes, but also off them. We were out and about with our skis in the Fieberbrunn ski area. In addition to rapid descents, you also have the opportunity to ride the coaster, which is great fun for young and old.

The Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn ski circus offers an incredible 270 kilometres of slopes, 70 modern cable cars and lifts, 60 cosy huts and numerous attractions such as the Coaster. For a ski break in between, you shouldn’t miss a delicious Kaiserschmarrn or Germknödel. The view makes the delicacies taste even better.

Snowshoeing and reading animal tracks

Discovering nature is essential for me on every trip and especially in the PillerseeTal there is a lot to see in winter. On a snowshoe hike you can perceive and explore the surroundings. We did this in the company of Birgit Schwaiger – she is the region’s herb fairy.

During our exploration tour, we read the tracks of wild animals, the first track was from a marten, while the second was from a fox. We were also introduced to the world of buds, which contain health-promoting ingredients and have a detoxifying and balancing effect on people even in small quantities. The art of incense was then on the programme, in former times incense with resins and herbs was widespread, because it cleanses the air, influences the well-being and can solve health problems.

Jakobskreuz – the highest accessible summit cross

The Jakobskreuz in the PillerseeTal is imposing and worth a visit, as it is the highest accessible summit cross in the world! A unique experience with an even more wonderful view.

The Jakobskreuz is located on the summit of the Buchensteinwand, the most beautiful panoramic mountain in the PillerseeTal. At a height of approx. 30 metres, the Jakobskreuz offers a magnificent view over the holiday region. On the second picture you can see the Pillersee in the distance. The peaks of the Loferer and Leoganger Steinberge as well as numerous other mountains such as the Wildseeloder, the Spielberg or the Kitzbüheler Horn can be viewed in a unique way from the summit cross.

Culinary Delights

The culinary lovers among you will not miss out in the PillerseeTal region either. In addition to the classics such as Wienerschnitzel, Kasspatzln or Kaiserschmarrn – there is a lot to discover. First of all, you should not miss the trout ranch at Pillersee, where specially bred trout and other specialities from water and land are served.

Culinary delights of all kinds were also on offer in our hotel, as you can see. During our trip, we had the pleasure of staying at the traditional Hotel Alte Post. The family-run business, which has been in operation for over 100 years and is now in its 4th generation, offers modern and traditional dishes at every meal.

Wellness and relaxation

After an active day on the skis or snowshoes, a wellness session comes in handy. The Latschenkiefer SPA of the Hotel Alte Post with sauna world and panoramic pool was absolutely perfect for this.

I hope that I was able to bring you closer to the PillerseeTal and wish you lots of fun, enjoyment and relaxation during your visit.
