My feel-good time at the 5-star Posthotel Achenkirch in Tirol

Last week I was allowed to spend four days at the Posthotel AchenkirchPosthotel Achenkirch. Today I would like to tell you more about my stay. For me it is the perfect place to relax for a few days and to escape the daily routine as a couple in beautiful Tyrol.

 

The Posthotel Achenkirch

 

 

The Posthotel Achenkirch is located in the village of Achenkirch at the Achensee in Tyrol. The resort covers an area of 40’000 m2. It offers 143 rooms, including 63 suites. The Posthotel Achenkirch is an adult hotel for guests aged 14 and over. It is therefore ideal for a romantic get-away for two. Hospitality has a long tradition at the Posthotel Achenkirch and you can feel it the moment you arrive. Since 1918, guests have been visiting the Posthotel Achenkirch. What began with travellers in stagecoaches is now a modern oasis of well-being with numerous offers.

 

Our Room

 

 

We stayed at the junior suite. With its dignified interior in Tyrolean country house style, you feel immediately at home. The spacious suite has a bedroom, a living room, a spacious wardrobe and a noble bathroom with a bathtub / shower and two washbasins. The wonderful balcony was also a great plus.

 

 

The Junior Suite offers everything your heart desires and to feel at home during your stay at the Posthotel Achenkirch.

 

Water and wellness worlds / ATRIUM SPA

 

 

The 7,000 m2 water and sauna world of the Posthotel Achenkirch is one of the most diverse and exclusive in Austria. You can swim and relax in two indoor pools, a heated outdoor pool from 32-34° C, two brine outdoor pools 34° C and two hot whirl pools. The new Yin Yang pool is a very special outdoor attraction. In the Sauna World you will find: log cabin sauna “Karwendelfeuer” in the outdoor area, Tyrolean sweat room, Finnish sauna, Turkish bath, tepidarium, Kneipp roundel, aroma grottoes, tropical rain grotto and camomile grotto. The “Sunken Temple”, which also offers wellness worlds, is wonderfully designed, you will find there: Cathedral of Silence (meditation room), Soledom, dragon steam bath, temple sauna, resting nest and path of water.

 

We really enjoyed the time off. In wonderful summer weather, I was also able to relax after swimming on the comfortable deck chairs with a view of the mountains. The Sauna World invites you to discover the sunken temple, which you should not miss out during your visit. At the ATRIUM SPA you can really let yourself be pampered, from massages and facial treatments to the Signature treatment, the so called “power ritual”.

 

 

During the treatment your feet are pre-warmed and wrapped up warm and soft. A massage of the head, shoulder and neck area follows. Here, relaxing grips are combined with various vital points. The alpine herbal emulsion used provides additional relaxation. The treatment is a real relief, especially after an active day.

 

Posthotel Alpengolf

 

 

Another unique offer can be found at the Posthotel Achenkirch: the Alpengolf, of course I couldn’t miss the in-house 9-hole golf course. As a hotel guest you get discounts and you can drive directly with the golf cart from the hotel to the nearby golf course. The golf course not only offers a unique playing pleasure, also the view is unparalleled.

 

In- and Outdoor Fitness

 

 

Sports fans get their money’s worth at the Posthotel Achenkirch. Indoors, top equipment awaits the guests and in the outdoor area there is an outdoor fitness area with a climbing wall and trampoline. Ping-pong or boccia and yoga are also possible. In addition there are 2 indoor and outdoor tennis courts and a squash hall in the hotel.

 

 

Outside the hotel there are numerous activities available. We decided to go hiking and started a four-hour circular hike above the Achensee. The Achensee then invites you for swimming, surfing, SUP and much more.

 

Posthotel Stud Farm

 

 

For all horse lovers and those who want to become one, there is another unique activity offer. The Posthotel Achenkirch is home to its own stud farm with 12 Lipizzaner and 2 Haflinger horses. A private Lipizzaner breed with a large indoor riding hall and a riding arena. Everything is possible, from rides to getting to know the horses. Also in the weekly program there are corresponding offers. We were very happy to get to know the horses a little better.

 

Culinary delights Posthotel Achenkirch

 

 

The Posthotel Achenkirch also has a lot to offer in culinary terms. Starting with the generous breakfast buffet with all kinds of delicacies. A fresh omelette as desired, fillet pieces, fried bacon and fried egg – yummy. In addition, a wide selection of fruits, milk dishes, vegan dishes, cold cuts, salmon, breads, porridge, cheese, juices and smoothies and much more awaits you.

 

The feel-good pension then includes a light lunch and coffee & cake in the bistro. You can eat there in a bathrobe and relax. Besides a light lunch menu, there is a salad buffet and a soup with a choice of bread. For dessert there you can find a choice of cakes, apple strudel and coffee.

 

 

In the evening, you will find yourself in one of the nine rooms to enjoy an exquisite dinner and evening buffet. You can flexibly choose dishes from the menu of the day or/and find your favourites at the buffet. Here, too, the offer is very rich and the quality of the food is sure to please the gourmet palate. The kitchen of the Posthotel Achenkirch was crowned with two hoods. There is also the TCM Restaurant TENZO.

 

Interview with Karl Reiter

 

The Posthotel Achenkirch is run by the friendly host Karl Reiter in the 4th generation. Already his great-grandparents welcomed guests in Achenkirch. Therefore I did not miss the opportunity to ask the hotel director some exciting questions. It was also him who more than 10 years ago made the decision to transform the Posthotel Achenkirch into an adult resort. With family vacationers and wellness guests, two different stakeholders had to be satisfied, which in turn required compromises on both sides. So he decided to declare the already unique wellness offer to the core offer for the relaxation guests and to give them the possibility to find back to themselves. Thus one meets in the Posthotel Achenkirch especially wellness vacationers who want to relax and be active at the same time. What the varied offer in the hotel with the fitness worlds, the numerous workshops like riding, cooking, golf and the stay in the open nature offer. Every guest should take home a small improvement for their everyday life. Many couples treat themselves to a romantic time-out (without children), and families with grown-up children as well as groups of friends also find themselves at the Posthotel.

Important for the success of the hotel are its employees, says Karl Reiter. Every one of his employees should feel like a host and therefore they can also enjoy the hotel’s varied offers. This is already noticeable at arrival, the 170 employees are warmly welcome you and responsive to the needs of the guests.

As you know this year was not an easy one for the hotel and tourism industry. The Posthotel Achenkirch also had to close for three months and resumed operations after the opening of the borders. Many guests come to the wellness hotel from Switzerland and Germany. According to Mr Reiter, the already high hygiene standards have been further increased for the safety of the guests. There is (currently) no obligation to wear a mask, so you can enjoy your holiday with enough distance. All offers are also freely accessible in the wellness area and the popular buffets are open too.

We were very happy to experience the Posthotel Achenkirch. I can really recommend it to you,  for a romantic stay with your loved one or a get-away with your best friend. Everything ist possible.
