The most beautiful spots in Florence – How to spend 2 days in Florence

Firenze Florenz

Florence is located in Tuscany and of course we couldn’t miss it on our Italy road trip this summer. Florence is also worth a visit for art lovers, as the beautiful city is considered the cradle of the Renaissance. During my visit the most beautiful places of the city were on my to-do list. So that you know which highlights you should not miss for your visit, here is my personal list of the most beautiful spots in Bella Firenze!

Piazza della Signoria

The Piazza della Signorina forms the centre of Florence. In the past the original David statue by Michelangelo used to stand here. It is now in the museum and has been replaced by a copy. On the Piazza itself and in the streets you will find shops, a small craft market and a selection of restaurants and cafés. Behind me you can see the Neptune Fountain.

Cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore

A truly pompous building can be found in the centre of Florence, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore with its imposing dome truly towers above the whole city. I enjoyed the view from another must-visit square as well as from the rooftop pool of our hotel, but more about that in a moment.

Ponte Vecchio over the river Arno

The Ponte Vecchio, which crosses the river Arno, is also a landmark of Florence. The special thing about this bridge are the small houses and shops, which were built into the bridge. If you walk along the river Arno, there are many great photo opportunities to catch the bridge.

Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura

Right on the Piazza della Signorina is the Gucci Osteria, which is definitely worth a visit – not only for fashion lovers. Enjoying a light lunch at the Gucci Garden of the Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura was accordingly at the top of my to-do list.

I especially enjoyed the little appetizers offered by the kitchen. The Michelin-starred restaurant offers creative dishes as well as classics like Tortellini alla Panna. I can recommend the Gucci Burger. It is not only served in a stylish burger box, it also tastes wonderful. I have also tried an Asian bun.

Piazza della Repubblica

Especially in the evening you should not miss the Piazza della Repubblica. It is located in the middle of the shopping mile and is especially known for this beautiful carousel. So why not take a ride?

Piazzale Michelangelo

Piazza Michelangelo

The Piazzale Michelangelo towers over the city, which can be reached by foot in about 20-30 minutes or by car in a few minutes from the city centre. We have walked to the top of the hill to enjoy the unique view.

Whether the Cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore or the Ponte Vecchio – the view over the city is breathtakingly beautiful. Pure Italian feeling to enjoy.

Plaza Hotel Lucchesi

Plaza Hotel Lucchesi

I would like to give you one last tip, because I discovered this beautiful hotel by chance. The Plaza Hotel Lucchesi is a 4-star hotel at the best location in Florence, directly on the river Arno. In a few minutes you can walk to the city centre. But the highlight of this hotel you can find on its roof, because there is a rooftop pool with a stunning view over Florence.

I wish you a lot of fun while discovering this beautiful city.
