Press trip
Last weekend we treated ourselves to a relaxing short vacation in the thermal baths of Saint-Malo. Today I would like to give you a few insights. The Grand Hôtel Des Thermes is located directly at the sea.
The Grand Hôtel Des Therme
The 5 star Grand Hôtel Thermes offers 174 rooms, a part of which is located in the historic main building, the other part in the new building. Our room was in the new building. Des Grand Hôtel Thermes offers a fitness center, an Aquatonic® pool, and a thalassotherapy center. In addition, the hotel features three restaurants and a bar.
The cozy modern lobby
The Room
The various room categories offer the desired level of comfort; we had the privilege of staying in one of the Croisière Grand Large rooms with a wonderful ocean view. The stylish and comfortable furnishings make for a cozy stay.
By the way, there are also wonderful beauty products to discover from the Saint-Malo sea baths. I was allowed to test the products a few years ago and was happy to test some new ones in the hotel.
As you can see, the seating area in front of the window was my favorite place, because from here it was also wonderful to watch the tides. Every day the level changed and the sea became hundreds of meters of sandy beach.
Therme, Thalasso and Wellness
The Grand Hôtel des Therme is a true paradise for wellness lovers like me. Thalasso treatments, private spa, sauna, massages and Aquatonic® pool are on the menu here for relaxation and deceleration.
The thalasso treatments can be arranged as desired; I went for two half-days of different treatments. The term thalasso (was derived from the ancient Greek word for sea “thálassa” and refers to the treatment of diseases with cold or heated sea water, sea air, sun, algae, silt and sand.
My personal favorite treatment was a massage under a sea water shower as well as the seaweed wrap. I can also highly recommend the Private Spa, especially for couples.
Culinary Delights
There are two great restaurants in the Grand Hôtel des Therme, Le Cap Horn and La Verrière. In the gourmet restaurant Le Cap Horn, the chefs Patrice Dugué and Pascal Pochon and their team of 35 cooks and pastry chefs provide culinary delights. This of course including a wonderful view of the sea. I would like to show you some of the delicacies that I was able to enjoy during my stay. By the way, the rich breakfast is also served to the hotel guests in the restaurant Le Cap Horn.
The restaurant La Verrière also offers numerous delicacies, especially traditional cuisine and dietary cuisine. The atmosphere is informal and I also liked it very much.
Good to know
Now I would like to give you some more information so that you can plan your stay well and enjoy it as much as I did. The best way is to fly directly to Rennes and from there take a cab, rental car or train to Saint-Malo. We were picked up by cab.
Besides enjoying the beach, it is also worthwhile to discover the area. On foot you are in about 15 minutes in the town of Saint-Malo and if you walk along the beach in the opposite direction, you will be rewarded with more small coastal beaches and rocks with great views.
