Recently we were able to enjoy a wonderful time-out at the 5* Alpine Grand Hotel & Spa Waldhaus Flims. For 140 years, the hospitality is celebrated here. This in the beautiful mountains of Flims – just a short drive from the oldest city in Switzerland named Chur. Surrounded by a unique mountain backdrop and inviting park, the Waldhaus Flims is home to 143 rooms and suites.

 

The Alpine Grand Hotel & Spa Waldhaus Flims is ideal for a weekend getaway – in just 1.5 hours you can get there from Zurich. Thus, it is of course also a popular destination for tourists, who like to do a shopping trip through Zurich in addition to spend relaxing time in the mountains.

 

 

We were allowed to check into the beautiful presidential suite and immediately felt at home – only without the hustle and bustle of everyday life of course. In particular, the private sauna and cozy bath invite you to unwind. The perfect little relaxation program after a walk in the beautiful park of the Waldhaus Flims and an afternoon tea.

 

 

The Alpine Grand Hotel & Spa Waldhaus Flims has a lot to offer in culinary terms. The first evening we went to the restaurant Pomodoro. In a relaxed atmosphere, there are Italian classics with a twist. I enjoyed a yummy pizza.

After a restful night followed by the next culinary treat – breakfast at The Grand. Not only the great and delicious selection of food but also the ambience invite you to a cozy get-together.

 

 

Not to be missed are the freshly prepared and delicious omelets, waffles, pancakes and Co. Rested and strengthened, we went to the spa afterwards.

 

 

The Spa of the Waldhaus Flims was awarded the European Health & Spa Award and is one of the three best wellness hotels in Europe and at the same time it is the best Swiss hotel spa. Where could you enjoy a relaxing weekend better?

 

 

Indoor pool, outdoor adventure pool and natural swimming pond offer variety. The indoor pool in the glass cube offers a breathtaking view. The outdoor adventure pool is heated, so you can relax there in the colder months as well wonderfully while enjoying bubble beds, massage jets, bubbler and neck cascades. While in the natural swimming pond Flims mountain spring water is waiting for you.

 

 

After a spa visit, guests can enjoy the on-site The Summit Bar. In the afternoon you meet here for coffee and cake and stimulating conversations. In the evening you can enjoy a gin on the rocks by the fire – inside or outside.

 

 

For a romantic dinner, it is worth reserving a table in the restaurant Epoca. The 14 Gault-Millau-Pointed restaurant offers culinary delights of the finest and freshly prepared regional and international delicacies.

 

 

I enjoyed a modern interpretation of a Carpaccio and then I had a wonderfully tender and perfectly fried venison with homemade Schupfnudeln. For dessert, I ate the tree cake – rarely I ate a dessert, which has been prepared with so much attention to detail and love.

 

 

One of my personal highlights was the hotel library with reading opportunity. There you can indulge in a game of lady and enjoy a calm and peaceful evening.

 

 

By the way, getting up early is worthwhile – the sunrise in the mountain scenery is breathtakingly beautiful. You should not miss this play of colors.

 

 

Also not to be missed is a little travel in time in the hotel museum “Belle Epoque”. The props of 140 years of hotel history exude their own wit. Particularly impressive are the numerous paintings of Lake Cauma created by hotel guests during the years.

 

 

At the end of our trip we enjoyed another delicious breakfast at The Summit and a walk through the parkland of the Alpine Grand Hotel & Spa Waldhaus Flims.
