Luxury and relaxation at the Alpengold Hotel Davos

Davos – one of Switzerland’s most famous winter destinations, surrounded by snow-capped mountains and clear, cold alpine light. Last weekend we had the pleasure of experiencing the luxurious hospitality of the Alpengold Hotels Davos. This architectural masterpiece, whose golden façade catches the winter sunlight, not only impressed us with its style, but also with its unrivalled comfort.

Our temporary home: the suite with a mountain view

Our accommodation was one of the exclusive suites at the Alpengold Hotel – a true refuge for cold winter days. As soon as we entered the suite, we were impressed by the spacious layout, the high-quality materials and the attention to detail.

The bedroom was both luxurious and cosy: a large, softly upholstered box-spring bed, which looked out directly onto the balcony, offered us a breathtaking view of the snow-covered mountains and fir trees every morning. Thick layers of snow glistened in the sunlight while the winter wind rustled gently through the trees – a sight you won’t soon forget.

In the living room, we were greeted by an inviting seating area with modern designer furniture that was both comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. An elegant work niche and a Nespresso machine rounded off the overall picture and left nothing to be desired.

The bathroom was another highlight: it offered a free-standing bathtub, a large rainforest shower and high-quality care products from L’Occitane. Especially after a day in the cold, a hot bath in these luxurious surroundings was pure relaxation.

Culinary highlights at the Alpengold Hotel

The Alpengold Hotel offers four outstanding restaurants: Sapori with authentic Italian cuisine, La Muna for a mix of Asian and South American flavours, The Cheese Factory for cheese lovers and the atelier VERT, which serves plant-based dishes.

La Muña – A journey through Asia and South America

Our culinary weekend began with dinner at La Muña, one of the Alpengold Hotel’s flagship restaurants. The restaurant impresses as soon as you enter with its stylish, modern interior: dark wood elements, warm lighting accents and a relaxed, exclusive atmosphere.

The menu at La Muna combines Asian and South American influences in an innovative way, and each course is a small work of art. From sushi to Peruvian ceviche, the restaurant offers fusion cuisine at the highest level. Of course, we finished off with the delicious mochi.

Sapori – Italian flair in the middle of the Alps

On the second evening, we were looking forward to dinner at Sapori, the hotel’s Italian restaurant. A love of authentic Italian cuisine dominates here – combined with a modern twist.

I started with carpaccio, where the perfect balance between the tender beef and the creamy sauce was impressive. For my main course, I chose homemade tagliatelle with veal ragout and chanterelles – an aromatic highlight that emphasised the quality of the ingredients across the board. For dessert, we tried a tiramisu that was both light and creamy and rounded off the evening perfectly with a fine espresso flavour. The Sapori impresses with its relaxed, elegant atmosphere and service that reads your every wish before you say it.

A breakfast that leaves nothing to be desired

Breakfast at the Alpengold Hotel was also a real treat. The light-flooded breakfast room offered a fantastic view of the snow-covered mountains through the large panoramic windows – a marvellous start to the day.

I would particularly like to emphasise the option of ordering fresh egg dishes à la carte. My personal favourite was the Eggs Benedict, which was served with a perfectly prepared hollandaise sauce. The Florentin version with spinach was also a delight that I will remember for a long time to come.

In addition to the hot dishes, there was a wide selection of fresh baked goods, regional cheeses, fruity jams and fresh yoghurt. Freshly squeezed juices and a selection of seasonal fruit provided an additional vitamin boost.

Wellness at the highest level

After an eventful day in the winter wonderland of Davos, the Alpengold Hotel spa was the perfect retreat. The heated outdoor pool was particularly impressive, surrounded by steaming water, while the snow-covered mountain landscape all around exuded an almost meditative calm.

Inside, the spa offered a sauna area with a Finnish sauna, bio-sauna and a steam bath that left nothing to be desired. The relaxation area with its cosy loungers and crackling fireplace was ideal for reflecting on the day over a cup of tea.

Tips for Davos

Davos is not only known for its first-class hotels, but also for its numerous leisure activities. A walk along Lake Davos is an unforgettable experience, especially in winter when the shores are covered in snow. If you want to be active, you will find one of the largest ski areas in Europe in the surrounding mountains, the Davos-Klosters ski area, which has something to offer for every level. I myself went on a wonderful winter hike.

Conclusion: luxury and relaxation in a winter paradise

The Alpengold Hotel Davos completely won us over with its unique design, excellent cuisine and high-quality spa. It is the perfect place to enjoy the cold season to the full – be it with culinary discoveries, wellness or simply admiring the breathtaking natural surroundings.

For anyone looking for a luxurious break in the Alps, the Alpengold Hotel is a real insider tip. We leave Davos with wonderful memories and can’t wait to come back – whether for more winter adventures or to explore the region at another time of year.
